[Evolution] Trash won't delete

I hope someone here can help

Trash folder will not delete. There are over 3000 emails in there now
and I want to dump it all, and though the program asks me if I'm sure I
want to dump all of those emails and I click expunge, it never does.

Please help,
I found nothing in the user manual about this.
