[Evolution] expunge trash issue

Subject: [Evolution] expunge trash issue

I'm running evolution 2.3.2 on Ubuntu 11.04.  Have now several thousand
emails deleted and sitting in the trash folder.  I deleted the
trash.cmet file, but still no luck.  Do I need to write off this
application, and remove it, then reinstall?
