What version of GNOME keyring do you have? I'd wager this is an
unsupported crypt type. HKDF has been a topic of conversation on the
keyring lists recently
<http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-keyring-list/2011-February/msg00001.html>
The version is from Debian unstable:
ii gnome-keyring 3.0.0-2
GNOME keyring services (daemon and tools)
Same as on the box where everything works (had used it for a long time
now).
If you look, using Seahorse, on the box that does work, do you see
imap:// entries in the Passwords tab?
