Re: [Evolution] Corrupted and failing in weird ways. HELP!?

Some background and then a question ...

Below, please find the Reply-to-All that failed to include the original sender and thus became a Reply-to-Some message. This is the message that freaked me out and leaves me in a state of not entirely trusting Evolution.

Searching the web, I have found references to rather drastic remedies such as uninstalling and reinstalling Evolution, deleting all the Folder.db files and forcing Evolution to re-index, deleting practically everything except the actual mailboxes (e.g. the *.cmeta files, the *.ibex.index files, the *.ibex.index.data files, etc.) and really forcing Evolution to recreate as much as possible, etc.

I have no objection to backing up my stuff and going as postal as necessary to re-stabilize my email. I don't even care if Evolution needs to run all night rebuilding its foundation as long as it comes out the other side rock-bottom trustworthy. I'm even willing to baby-sit the process if it is less than automatic.

However, before I wade in with my chain-saw and flame-thrower, I would like to learn from this community what some of these files do, which files ought (or ought not) be tinkered with, and what, if any, tools and best practices are recommended to forcing a hard reset on Evolution. I'm particularly interested in tools to detect, repair, and/or remove corrupt messages from mailbox files.

Just so I don't forget, I'll include one here: change all my POP accounts to leave messages on the server so that they'll still be around if I have to revert to my backup and begin again. Actually, this is my preferred mode of operation because it guarantees that I can get my most recent email even if flames come shooting out of my computer.

Thanks in advance for any advice you may have on this process.
