Yes, you're right. What I meant was that my exchange server allows
sending mail as well, using normal SMTP, not requiring MAPI. Sorry I
was unclear.
Usually, exchange is configured so that the hostname is the same for all
of the protocols, including imap and smtp. This likely led to the
confusion.
