When I got half through I backed up evolution, emptied it and downloaded
the other half then backed that up . I had about 400 odd to backup
somehow from Gmail and another 400 from Yahoo.
Now I dont seem to be able to combine them.
How can I convert my mail folders from mbox to maildir format?
In the distant past, I used maildir format. Then the evolution team
pulled support for maildir folders. Now your email implies that maildir
support is back. How can I use it? A quick Google search is not
helpful.
search the email archives, there have several threads on maildir recently.
Also, I have not tested this yet, so make copies before doing it, but I think you could do something like
copy original mbox0 file to cur0.mbox and
copy original mbox2 file to cur2.mbox then
movemail "/tmp/cur0.mbox" "maildir:///path/to/newMaildir"
movemail "/tmp/cur2.mbox" "maildir:///path/to/newMaildir"
Then create a new account in evolution of maildir format and point it to /path/to/newMaildir
If /path/to/newMaildir is in .evolution, make sure to shutdown evolution fully first
$evolution --force-shutdown
