If Milan's suggestion (see separate answer) doesn't work out, you can
use formail (part of the procmail package) to rewrite the entire mbox
file in canonical form. This is usually enough to catch any borked
messages (you may find that two consecutive messages have been joined
together). Make sure Evo is completely stopped before doing this).
I would also suggest splitting your Inbox into several folders, e.g. by
date or by topic. Very large mbox files are always inefficient and of
course any inconsistency in them can potentially affect the whole
folder. Note that you can still do global searches by selecting "Local
Account" in the drop-down menu to the right of the search bar.
