[Evolution] Evolution Mailer Send/Receive not working

I am using Evolution 2.26.1 with Ubuntu 9.04 on my laptop; recently, the
Send/Receive function of the Mailer ceased working and the menu icon is
grayed out. I restart the computer, etc, with the same results. Any
ideas how to fix?
