Re: [Evolution] Merge/Syncing multiple evolution installations.

You can check the conduit project.
I can sync remote machines, and it has plugins for evolution mail,
contacts and calendar.
If you just need to sync everything (instead of having that available
online when you don't have you computer(s) ), I think that's the easiest
way.

For mail the best thing is to use imap so all your Evo installs take
their mail from the same source.

For calendar and contacts I have tried various things in the past with
greater or lesser success. The best simple solution is to use
syncevolution and ScheduleWorld - the former is a program that
interfaces Evo with syncml and the latter is a free web setup that
allows you sync various things using syncml. I successfully used that
setup to keep 3 copies of Evo, a google calendar and a Blackberry in
sync with each other. It's not automatic though - you still need to
either manual run the sync process or, as I did it, set it up as a cron
job.

Currently I'm using a Zimbra server for my calendar - that at least
allows you to use CalDAV to keep things all in one place.

Hi.

I'm sure I'm not the only person with this problem, but I'm having a
hard time finding a solution. I'm trying to merge Evolution
installations on my work pc, home pc, and laptop. I've tried with
google, but I just find info on syncing with pda's, google calendar,
Microsoft Exchange, etc.

Surely this is a common enough desire that there exists an easy way to
do it? I'm even okay with scp'ing the .evolution folders from all the
various pcs onto a single pc, but I dont' know how to merge the data at
that point.

Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks kindly

Glen
