Hi.

I'm sure I'm not the only person with this problem, but I'm having a
hard time finding a solution. I'm trying to merge Evolution
installations on my work pc, home pc, and laptop. I've tried with
google, but I just find info on syncing with pda's, google calendar,
Microsoft Exchange, etc.

Surely this is a common enough desire that there exists an easy way to
do it? I'm even okay with scp'ing the .evolution folders from all the
various pcs onto a single pc, but I dont' know how to merge the data at
that point.

Can someone enlighten me?

What do you want to "merge"? You can sync contacts and calendars (see
other replies to this) but syncing mail depends on your setup. It's
easiest if your mailbox is on an IMAP server (you don't say) but even in
this case it's important to understand what Evo can do and what it
can't. e.g. IMAP is not designed for multiple *concurrent* access to the
same mailbox. One consequence of this is that new messages will be seen
as new by only one IMAP client, while the others will see the same
messages as not new. Since Evo does automatic filtering only for new
messages, the result may not be what you want.

The upshot is that if you want to keep your sanity, run only one
instance of Evo (and TBird and whatever else) at a time, and don't leave
Evo running at the office when you go home at night or vice versa.
