All,
I have been searching for any instructions for setting up the
Evolution Data Server backend supplied with RedHat Server ES 5. I have
been experimenting with using e-GroupWare as a solution for network
access to directory, calendaring and email services supported with
OpenLdap, Postfix and Evolution email clients (Windows & Linux). I
would be grateful If anyone can send or point me a guide for setting
up the Evolution Data Server for access by Evolution email clients.
You seem to have a misconception about the function of EDS. EDS is
simply the resident backend of the Evolution client, running on behalf
of a specific user. It runs when you run Evo (and generally stays
running for the rest of your session). It has nothing to do with mail
routing or providing mail service to other users or machines, i.e. it is
not an MTA.
In conclusion, you don't need to do anything special to configure or run
EDS. It just runs when you run Evo.
