[Evolution] corrupted Inbox file // many multiple copies // lots of errors

hi,

this may have to do with accidentally upgrading my evolution version
while running evo.

currently running latest official ubuntu packages, all 2.22.0, ubuntu
version 2.22.0-0ubuntu1.  i was rather innocently checking mail when
suddenly thousands of new mails seemed to appear & evo became
unresponsive.

this was happening over and over again (got a popup " you have
received 432 new mails" then " you have received 2000 new mails"
etc), so i killed evo from the command line & tried to restart but
responsiveness was very poor.  killed again, ran mutt on the inbox
(.evolution/mail/local/Inbox) & found many copies, most marked new, of
some fraction of my whole inbox.  total Inbox size was about 430 Mb,
so big, but not incredibly huge.  made copies of all Inbox and Inbox.*
files, then deleted all the Inbox.* files & used mutt's de-duplicator
to pare down the original Inbox.

then tried running evo again, and finally it seemed to run somewhat
responsively, but it no longer seems to be able to save the state of
the inbox -- messages i delete, mark as junk, or read show up as new
at each restrt, while new retieved messages don't seem to be recorded
poberly (could be wrong about that, it may be that they're just being
filtered somewhee, haven't tested extensively yet).  running fom
command line i see various unfamiliar error messages, e.g.:

message where I expected (85821646) got 135685836 instead

line here, didn't get it. SO recovering....


on subsequent restarts some of these seem to disappear, leaving e.g.:

not being able to use evolution is a bit of a disaster, so if anyone
can help i'd surely appreciate it!  as usual i didn't think to back
these mailboxes up until AFTER the fiasco, so am hoping some of y'all
can help...  thanks,
