Re: [Evolution] Password/keyring issue

1) How do I prevent that default keyring prompt?

2) Is there a way I can get Evo to remember my passwords all the time,
with or without the bloody keyring thing?

3) Is there a way to just make all of this go away, permanently?

Evo stores its passwords in the gnome keyring - AFAIK there's nothing
you can do about that. What has happened is that at some point a
password has been entered to lock the keyring - you may have done it
without thinking when a dialog box came up - however it has happened you
obviously don't know what it is. So what you need to do is to get rid
of the default keyring:

     rm ~/.gnome2/keyrings/default.keyring

Now the next time you tell evo to remember your passwords you will be
prompted to create a password for the keyring - this is *not* your login
password or any password to do with evo - you might create it to be the
same as another password, but it is not linked to any other password.
All it is is a password to unlock the store of passwords that evo, or
indeed any other program, has remembered.

You will then be prompted for the password to unlock the keyring once
every gnome session - that unlocking is for all programs that use it,
not just evo.

If you don't want to enter a password to unlock the keyring, then you
need to use the same password for the keyring as your login password -
then install the pam_keyring package and that should automatically
unlock your keyring when you login.
