When trying to send emails through configured SMTP server i allway get
an Error stating "parameter to HELO does not conform to rfc syntax"
...
Then ich tried it with Evolution and captured ip-traffic with wireshark.
There i could see, that evolution is trying to send
"HELO [hostname]" (be aware of the brakets)
rather than
"HELO hostname" (without brakets).
Hi Thomas,
I think you may be on to a legitimate bug here. If I understand RFC
2821 correctly, brackets should only be used for IPv4 addresses, not
hostnames. I filed bug #536154 [1] to investigate the issue further.
Please free to CC yourself on it.

Hi Matthew,
Great! Thank you. I had a look at bugzilla and found that it is really
discussed and seems to be fixed in a future version.
That's good news for me, as most of the people i try to convince to get
rid of their Outlook habbits are working with T-Online-server (German
Telekom) hosting millions of email accounts. Would have been very sad,
if all those users couldn't use evo (on Win32).
Hopefully there will be a new evo win32 build soon after the fix made it
in. (sorry, I am not able to build it by my own)
Many thanks for your support and for providing great software.
Thomas
