I like the way kmail give me the choice of keeping replies in the

I can't find a way to set this in Evolution, but wonder if there is
a
work-around. I thought about designating the inbox as the sent
folder,
but that isn't really satisfactory.

would a filter on outgoing mail to move it into the inbox work for
you.

Yes. Thanks, and to make it even better, I can add additional criteria
to put it in different folders.

For instance, if I have a folder called "Evolution" where this mailing
list is filtered to, I can have a criterion that checks to see if any of
the recipients contain evolution-list, and if so, move the outgoing item
to "Evolution".

OK. This was a great idea, except, it doesn't work, at least with Evo
2.22.2 on Ubuntu Hardy. I have to go into the Sent Items folder,
highlight and Ctrl-Y.

Alternatively, just create a virtual folder that picks up both the list
folder and your replies to the list (from your Sent folder). I do this
and it works fine with no moving of messages required. The only
downsides are:

1) You visit the virtual folder instead of the real one, and virtual
folders have their own place in the folder list.

2) It's OK to do this for a few cases, but doing it for every
correspondent is impractical. IIRC Kmail allows this with no extra work.

A nice enhancement would be to allow virtual folders to shadow real
ones, i.e. the display would show the virtual folder instead of the real
one. Needs some thinking about though.
