As an ugly work-around I created a filter that moves my incoming mail to a created folder. The filter does nothing if "Beep when new mail arrives" is selected but does play the sound on moving the incoming mail to the folder.
None of the computers had any problem what so ever using Evolution under Open SuSE 10 or 10.1

too vague to reproduce, can you please elaborate a bit? from which
window to which window? did you close the window you have copied from
before pasting? does this happen within evolution or do you copy or
paste to/from another application?

I receive several newsletters (who doesn't?) and I occasionally highlight and copy a paragraph to be included in a outgoing email. When I highlight and right click and "copy" it will not paste into the outgoing. I have used Ctl-C and Ctl-V with the same results.
I have discovered as of 5 a.m.. today that if I hightlight and hit a dozen of so Ctl-C commands it will actually do a copy and paste. And it will continue to function with a single copy command as long as I do not shut Evolution down. I get identical results using the cut command.
