Strange.

Please, read my signature.

Can you check that the folder with imported contacts is
marked for autocompletion and also once you access that book
and changed one contact, autocompletion is working only for
that contact and no other contacts in that folder?

Actually, sounds strangely familiar...

The bug I have in mind does not mention importing at all, but that may
very well be just because it wasn't realized for this case as well.

This bug (see below [1]) has been reported when adding new Contacts with
the Quick Add dialog (right click on the email address in a mail) to the
Personal Address Book.

Hi all,
I've imported my address book in to evolutions using a vcf file. The address
book is there but none of my addresses show up in the autocomplete, when
creating a new message.

I did find out that if I opened a contact changed one letter, then saved the
contact it would then show up in auto complete.

Is there a faster way to do this, as I have about 263 contacts, this could
take some time.

I assume you imported the Contacts to your Personal (the default)
Address Book, and that Auto-Completion is enabled for this Address Book.

There is a bug in 2.6 about non-default default Address Books. Yes,
right... ;)

The issue I recall and that likely is your issue as well is known to
bite the user, if he adds a Contact using the Quick Add dialog to the
Evolution "default" Address Book (the Personal named one), that actually
happens to not be set to be default. (Right click on the "Personal"
Address Book, Properties, enable "Mark as default folder".)

This Address Book is assumed to be default, if there is no default (see
Properties) set explicitly. However, this logic fails to Auto-Complete
for those Contacts added using the Quick Add dialog. Most likely, this
is the case when importing, too.

Auto-Completion works, if the Contact has been "changed" (saved again)
later on, or if any other Address Book is used. Auto-Completion works
just fine as well, if this Address Book actually is set to be the
default.

After having said all this...

* Select the "Personal" Address Book
* right click, Properties#
* enable "Mark as default folder"

I am most positive, this will fix your issue for *all* 260 Contacts in
one fell swoop.
