One other question - what in the heck is the weird red blob in the icon
to the left of "Valid signature" supposed to be?
Yup, a wax seal.
Hmm, good question. I think it's supposed to be a seal of some kind...
maybe a certificate of sorts? :-)
And, just in case you didn't know this (and I forgot to mention it):
That box with the seal is actually a button... if you click it Evo will
show you a window with details about the signing/encryption of the
message.
Wow... the GPG support is really cool. Has anyone considered adding a
little GUI for importing and signing keys?
Well, IMHO GPG key management is out of the scope of a mailer. Doing
this right involves way more than just fetching a key...
Anyway, to automate this process (importing of unknown keys), edit your
GPG options in ~/.gnupg/options or ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf and let GPG itself
care about this. :) Just add these settings:
keyserver your.preferred.keyserver.net
keyserver-options auto-key-retrieve
Works like a charm for me. :) HTH
