[Evolution] syncing Palm TX and evo 1.4

Hi there,

I have been unsuccessful in syncing my Palm TX with evo 1.4 (Mandrake 9.2, kernel 2.4.22). Kernel modules usbserial and visor are loaded, and I added a line

options visor vendor=0x830 product=0x61

to /etc/modules.conf. As a result, I can perfectly sync my pilot using jpilotbut not using evolution. When I pull down the menu option Tools -> Pilot Settings, gnome-pilot fails to connect to the pilot. It hangs on the screen which prompts to press the hotsync button on the pilot. Any suggestions please?

Under Mandrake 10.1 and Mandriva 10.2 (2005LE), it synchs fine with evolution 2,0.x. In Mandriva 10.2 , no effort was required at all. On Mandrake 10.1, I had to add a vendor/product line to gnome-pilot's devices.xml file (I think). On Mandrake 9.2 box, such file does not exist (different version of Gnome?). Unfortunately, upgrade is not an option.

If that can help, here is part of dmesg output re usbserial and visor:

usb.c: registered new driver serial
usbserial.c: USB Serial support registered for Generic
usbserial.c: USB Serial Driver core v1.4
visor.c: Untested USB device specified at time of module insertion
