[Evolution] inbox.tmp

I sheepishly admit that I only just noticed a folder named inbox.tmp and
am not aware of its purpose.  Could someone explain that, please?

It wasn't obvious to me before because I have a large number of folders
and sub-folders so it disappears off the bottom of the frame.  It seems
populated with what appears to be a random selection of mails, most
read, some not read, with no recent mails included.
