I just switched my entire desktop from GNOME 2.8.3 to 2.10.0, using
GARNOME. Everything is fine except for Connector.
When I switched over, I moved to a backup directory the ~/.gconf*,
~/.gnome* and ~/.evolution directories. When I started up with 2.10.0,
I did a cp -a of the ~/.evolution and ~/.gconf/apps/evolution
directories from the backup to my home directory.
My IMAP account mostly works fine... except that when I try to send
email, I get a "Connection refused" error. If I switch my desktop back
to 2.8.3 (running Evolution 2.0.3), everything is fine.
What type of authentication does your smtp server use?
I should have asked about connector not SMTP right? I believe there was
a plain text auth problem in 2.2.0 for connector when configuring via
the mail account editor. You might try ximian-connector-setup for a new
account or get 2.2.1 (possibily just for the connector bit).
