Yeah, and it's likely called "subscription required". ;-)

Every now and then posts by non-subscribers are approved and the queue
gets flushed, but that needs to be done manually. There are quite a few
mails from mid December making its way to the list recently...

does not allow non-subscribers to post?

no, because then we get flooded with spam.

sorry, misread. this is already how we have it configured.

I guess I should have been a bit more explicit: bounce the message
back, saying, "you must be subscribed to post".
