Re: [Fwd: Re: [Evolution] Evolution, Upgrade from 1.4 to 2.0.0 on Mandrake]

Has anybody been able to upgrade Evo 1.4 to 2.0 on a Mandrake distro?

Yes I upgraded from Mandrake 10.0 to 10.1 (Community) and the transition
was automated.

I was upgrading and at the same time moving to a new hard drive.
I installed MDK 10.1, deleted the new .evolution directory and copied
the old evolution directory from my old HD and restarted evo 2

You should have let Mandrake do the job, the script is included in the
RPM. And it seems that somehow Evo2 stores data elsewhere than
~.evolution (or ~evolution)

It uses GConf for storing Account informations and Settings. But all the
real data actually is stored in your ~/.evolution directory.

I am mostly interested in moving the contacts from 1.4 to 2.0.
I can do the e-mail manually and I have been using imap for a while so
all the now e-mail are on the server anyway.
Again, how to move the contacts from 1.4 to 2.0?

You can launch Evo1.4, select all your contacts and choose "save as
vcf". Then you can import the vcf file in Evo2.

This (save as vcf) worked great.

Yay! for processing backlogged mails in chronological order -- of
threads...

Ignore my previous post to this thread (yeah, the other part of it,
which threads till being interrupted) then. Glad you got the data back
you need anyway. :)
