No this will not help me because I am using "Sub" in search scope

actually even if I set the time out to 5 minutes evolution popup the
error message as soon as I request any contact ( I don't think it even
connect)

is there anyway I can debug the application ?

The only problem that I have is the LDAP (the Contacts) , every time I set

Can anyone tell me what is the problem please ?

You don't mention your distro, but I found tonight that my 1.4.6 which
shipped with SuSE 9.1 doesn't seem to have LDAP access compiled in. I
searched the error message and Google came up with an exact match from
the Evo archive in 2001. I can access from Moz and also from the
myldapklient application which shipped in 9.1.

I'm downloading 1.5 here on my home box (and which I already run on my
work laptop) and will see how it goes...

Why do you think it doesn't? here on my SuSE 9.1-box

: [bagfors zyrgelkwytng]$ ; rpm -qR evolution|grep ldap
libldap.so.199

: [bagfors zyrgelkwytng]$ ; ldd
/opt/gnome/lib/evolution/1.4/components/libevolution-addressbook.so|
grep ldap
        libldap.so.199 => /usr/lib/libldap.so.199 (0x413a1000)

Seems to be compiled in.

/Erik
