[Evolution] Re: Hi..

What I keep comming across is things like this;

rpmbuild -bb SPECS/evolution.spec

LOTS CUT<

gcc -g -O2 -Wall -Wmissing-prototypes -o .libs/test-ename-western
test-ename-western.o ./.libs/libename.so -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lgnomeui-2
-lSM -lICE -lbonoboui-2 -lgnomecanvas-2 -lgnome-2 -lpangoft2-1.0
-lbonobo-2 -lgconf-2 -lgnomevfs-2 -lbonobo-activation -lORBit-2
/usr/lib/liblinc.so -lgthread-2.0 -lpthread -lgal-2.0 -lgal-a11y-2.0
/usr/lib/libglade-2.0.so /usr/local/lib/libgnomeprint-2-2.so
-lfontconfig /usr/lib/libfreetype.so -lgtk-x11-2.0 -lgdk-x11-2.0
-latk-1.0 -lgdk_pixbuf-2.0 -lpangoxft-1.0 -lpangox-1.0 -lart_lgpl_2
/usr/lib/libxml2.so -lz -lm -lpango-1.0 -lgobject-2.0 -lgmodule-2.0 -ldl
-lglib-2.0 -Wl,--rpath -Wl,/usr/lib/evolution/1.4 -Wl,--rpath
-Wl,/usr/local/lib
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/3.2/../../../libpangoft2-1.0.so:
undefined reference to `FT_Set_Hint_Flags'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [test-ename-western] Error 1

Which makes me think I need to update pango. This just seems to keep
happenign, i'm wondering if there's a list of what I need somewhere? I
saw some requirements, but I've run into what seems like a couple dozen
so far at this point, and each time, I have ot gosearch the web for
either the rpm or src rpm, then install.. it's taken a long time doing
it this way..

any thoughts or suggestions?

Have you tried using --nodeps or the like on the redhat 8 packages?

If you install all the required -devel packages, the src rpm's
shouldn't be difficult to get up.

PS please reply to the mails on the list, you dopn't have to cc the
list, but you're very lucky i found this message in my 150 spams for
today.

Is it possible to get you Ximian to build a version Evolution that will
work with glibc2.2.X ?

we are a large 3d production facility, we have 50 users that start
within the next few weeks, and the project is asking for Evolution, but
we can't upgrade glibc as our 3d application (XSI) requires glibc2.2.x
(on RH 8)

if i can get my way here, we will use evolution as our linux mail
client, across the whole facility, which would be somewhere between 200-
250 users. I've been trying to build from source but have ran into
hurdle after hurdle, and am getting close, but have had to make so many
changes to the system i am afraid i may have broken some other very
needed applications..

Thanks.
