[Evolution] tray icon or applet showing new mails (and questions about versions)

Hi!

Is there any way to get a tray icon/applet to show new mails in
evolution? I saw a post in the archives discussing an implementation of
a tray icon in evolution, status on that?

What are the current stable release of evolution? When will next version
be released (approx.) and what new features will there be?

Forgive me for asking questions that probably has been asked before, but
I couldn't locate any page that gave me answers to these questions.
