Re: [Evolution] problems with address book.

try making sure e-d-s isn't running, then run it and note the output,
both on startup of e-d-s and startup of evo.

Thanks Andre,
I just updated to the latest snapshots, and things changed slightly. I
now get a dialog box when I start evo stating that evolution-data-server
has quit unexpectedly. So I decided to try starting it from the command
line. I got the following output:

[frank flynch ~]$ /usr/lib/evolution-data-server-1.0
evolution-data-server-Message: Starting server
libedata-book-Message: Error registering the PAS factory: already active

evolution-data-server-ERROR **: server.c:291: could not initialize
Server service "BOOKS"; terminating
aborting...
Aborted (core dumped)
[frank flynch ~]$

loading the resultant core file in a debugger gives the following stack
trace:

(gdb) where
#0 0xffffe002 in ?? ()
#1 0x42028c55 in abort () from /lib/tls/libc.so.6

#5 0x42015704 in __libc_start_main () from /lib/tls/libc.so.6
(gdb)

any ideas?
TIA,

Hi Folks,
I updated to the latest snapshot on Sunday and my address book broke. I
just updated again and my address book is still out of action.

When I start evo from the command line I get the following output:

asked to activate component_id `OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_Component:1.5'
asked to activate component_id `OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_Component:1.5'

that's totally normal.

If I click on the "To:" button in the composer I get the following:

asked to activate component_id `OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_SelectNames:1.5'

My address book db files in ~/.evolution/addressbook/local/system/
appear to be intact.. so I guess this is some kind of problem with
bonobo activation??

my first wild guess (beside checking file access rights) would be
checking if evolution-data-server is running, e.g. by typing
   "top -b -n1 | grep evolution"
if there isn't any output beginning with "evolution-d" (for data-
server), this should be a problem - but that's only my first guess.

cheers,
andre
