should be the following:
first shutdown evo entirely by this command:
$ evolution --force-shutdown
then remove the index files:
$ find ~/evolution/local/ -name "mbox.*" -exec rm -f {} \;
normal disclaimer: be careful, back up before you do and so on... ;-)
