[Evolution] never ending kerberos lookups

I'm using evolution to connect to an exchange server. Well, at least I
was. This week, our exchange admin decided, for some reason, to switch
to plaintext authentication.
First, I couldn't switch the option to plaintext (once I finally got
evolution to start - I'm not sure how I did, I just kept at it, deleting
the .evolution directory and trying different ways of starting it until
it came up). When I switched to plaintext, it would just revert back.
Tried removing and recreating the account.
Finally, I had to completely remove evolution, purge all configuration
and re-install.
Ultimately, it still doesn't authenticate to the exchange server.
Worse yet, after the exchange failure, the evolution-exchange-storage
process does a never ending iterative lookup on kerberos-1.domain.com,
kerberos-2.domain.com, kerberos-3.domain.com, etc...
When the exchange account was my default, this would prevent evolution
from starting. Aargh.
