is it possible to configure evolution interface for removing the text
in toolbar buttons ? This to gain place.
Yes, this is possible -- although there is no convenient GUI for this.
The layout of the toolbar and menus (including text and shortcuts) is
defined by the XML files in /usr/share/evolution/1.4/ui/ directory (the
actual location can vary, IIRC at least on SuSE the prefix is
different).
You can edit them as root, but be careful. Evolution won't start when
these files are corrupt.
Rather than deleting the text, setting priority="0" for a toolitem
should disable the _label value for 'text beside icon' layout.
