Well in theory we could change the behavior of the shell so it does the
right thing (i.e. give the focus to the control), and make the control
grab the focus in the message list on the activate signal.

But I agree it doesn't sound worthwhile to do it now, it will be much
easier to do in 2.0.

If there is a schedule for 2.0 ?

Problem with 2.0 is that we do not know when it will be done.  So we unable  to depend
our accessibility work on it.
