This basically has nothing to do with the problem of format

I am aware of the issues involved with access to a file by multiple
applications. Still it is useful when you can with a simple script or
prompt command transfer information from one application to the other.
Obviously it would better if the calendar files had a locking system which
would enable evolution and mozilla to work together on the same
information, but that is non-trivial.
The file is considered private evo data, and no doubt the mozilla file
is considered private mozilla data, if you end up running both at once
you could end up with a total mess, i.e. corrupt data, lost entries,
etc, since i doubt either of them is locking that file.
I do not agree at all. The calendar is the users private data and he
should be allowed to move it from one application to another as he wishes.
This is what open formats are all about.
Thus I maintain my question on how to transfer my calendar information
between evolution and mozilla by a command as simple as mv, cp or ln.
Thanks for the information.
Best regards
Jan

Hi,
I thought that the local/Calendar/calendar.ics of evolution and the
.mozilla/.../Calendar/CalendarDataFile.ics had the same format. Thus it
would be logical to make a symbolic link between both so that both
software see the same calendar.
Well, that does not work ! Once the link exists the first thing
evolution does is to replace it by a file :-( Even when I copied the file
from Mozilla over I do not get the calendar I filled out under mozilla.
Is that normal ? I am under RedHat 7.3 with all the Ximian software up to
date.
My final aim is to export my agenda as HTML web pages. I expect that the
ical2html will do that for me but that does not work for the moment.
Probably I will have a question on this later !
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards
Jan
