[Evolution] Slow performance?

Why is the performance non existent running Evolution 1.4.x on SuSE 8.2?? If I for instance tries to open evolution in non-maximized window and then press maximize, it takes evolution about 15 seconds to redraw the window maximized. I am having the same result on all my SuSE 8.2 installations, but on SuSE 8.1 it works like a charm..! To all fairness, this seems to be a Gnome2 issue and not just Evolution but maybe anyone have any suggestions?
