Hi,
I did some archive searching but couldn't find anything on this. I'm
running Evolution 1.4.5 under Gentoo. I do a lot of Pro Audio work under
Linux and cannot have applications grabbing sound hardware. Evolution seems
to fail in this respect. Is there anything I can do about it?
I start Evolution with the --disable-sound command line option. Before
starting there is no sound usage by anything except my Linux audio mixer.
Wizard root # lsof | grep sound
hdspmixer 1639 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
When Evolution is running, there is a lot of usage:
Wizard root # lsof | grep sound
hdspmixer 1639 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
evolution 1993 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
evolution 1999 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
evolution 2001 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
evolution 2004 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
evolution 2005 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
evolution 2006 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
evolution 2007 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
evolution 2008 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
Even after Evolution closes there is still usage:
Wizard root # lsof | grep sound
hdspmixer 1639 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
evolution 1999 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
evolution 2001 mark mem REG 3,7 792783 442538
/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0
I have audio applications that won't run (i.e. - they are blocked) until I
close Evolution. How can I get around this?
Thanks,
Mark
