If your distro ships with recent aspell packages, you should install
them. Distros shipping with outdated aspell packages (like RH9) need the
recent versions packaged by Ximian to be installed. These packages are
on the Ximian FTP server and mirrors -- you can get them via Red-Carpet.

You will at least need aspell, aspell-$LANG and gnome-spell1 packages.
