Guenther,
I am using XFCE on my laptop, with enough of the gnome libraries to run
evolution. Method 2 doesn't work for me! No idea why. Don't worry
about ii, thought I would mention it, it's not a high priority on my to
do list at the moment.
Have you tried the first method? Which Gnome version? Is the gconf
daemon running? Paths and executable flags correct? What is the output
of the following command?
$ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/unknown
If you want to debug this, mail me -- privately is ok, until we got this
solved. FWIW: There are (rare) reports of some systems/users that could
not get this to work. I would be interested to post the best possible
solution.
