I had this type of problem when moving from my office DHCP setup to a
static setup at a client office. It had something to do with reverse
lookup. I solved it by placing in /etc/hosts the following line:
127.0.0.1 my_pc_name.mydomain.com my_pc_name
Adolfo, good point. That comes up on the Mandrake Experts mailing list
every few weeks. But you already know this... ;-)
Adding another line (if not present) may help, too:
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain
...guenther [ who uses work account for mandrake experts ml ]

(c=*++x); c&128 && (s+=h); if (!(h>>=1)||!t[s+h]){ putchar(t[s]);h=m;s=0; }}}
