[Evolution] IMAP errors, using both 1.2.2-5 and 1.3.3

Hello all-
I have a very weird problem with Evo on my RH9 box, it's the first time I've
ever had a problem with it...

On Friday, my X windows crashed (I was dorking around with some vesa= boot time
stuff to correct my corrupted console display), which was nothing new... It
locked up the entire machine and I had to reboot it. After this reboot, I was
unable to access my IMAP mail account through Evo.

The symptoms are the same for both versions of Evo I've tried, I start Evo, then
go to expand my IMAP account tree. The tree flickers "Connecting..." and the
statusbar on the bottom flickers 'Scanning Folders in "IMAP server zaphod
(...)"' but the tree never pops up.

I've deleted my ~/evolution folder and that works once, as soon as I shutdown
evo and restart it, I get the above problem. I've also tried simply deleting
everything in ~/evolution/mail/imap but that didn't help. Also tried removing
and reinstalling Evo, both versions, from rpm, and again, I'll be able to access
my IMAP store once, but after I close it and reopen it, I am not longer able to.
Even deleting and recreating the IMAP accounts doesn't work. I've also wiped out
everything in /tmp/orbit-zmully and restarted the entire machine, but nothing
works. Between restarts of Evo I make sure to run both "killev" and "oaf-slay"
but nothing helps!

On the server side, nothing has changed in nearly 3 years, I can access my
account through my IMAP-webmail, as well as through IMAP-pine, and neither
programs complain about broken mailbox structures or anything for that matter.
Also I have a coworker running the same setup (RH9 with 1.2.2-5) that's had no
problems with his Evo at all! The IMAP server logs show successful logins, and
no errors (we're running UW-IMAP-4.7 with patched for maildirs, even though all
my mailboxes are in mbox format).

So, short of wiping and reinstalling RH9, what can I do? Are there lockfiles
laying around that I should remove? Anyone got an idea?

Thanks!
Z <- ready to use "Persuasion" (my 25 pound splitting maul) on my linux box
