Ralph, thanks very much for the response.
I got Evolution from Ximian through Red-Carpet. Ever since I subscribed to
their channels, whenever I logon to Red-Carpet, it recommends that I download
& install a number (10-20) updates. However, I am used to keep my system
updated through YAST Online Update (another horrible experience...) and I
fear that any Ximian-driven update might mess things up (would you happen to
know whether such a mess can really happen?).
Anyway, I plan to execute a full image ("ghost") backup of the system anytime
soon and then perform a full-blown update via Ximian and see what happens.

Quite frequently, especially when I forward or reply to messages or open

Is this a known bug? Can I or should I do something to prevent this from
happening?
Evolution 1.2.2 in "ICEWM" on SUSE Linux, Rel.8.0.
Regards,
I would say that this is not a known bug. I am using Evolution 1.2.2 on
SuSE 8.0 without any problems.
Did you download Evolution 1.2.2 from ftp.ximian.com or red-carpet or
elsewhere? To get 1.2.2 working nicely on my SuSE 8.0, I downloaded
almost all the rpm from ftp.ximian for SuSE 8.0 (except the devel and
pilot rpm).
