Re: [Evolution] open mail spool files in Evolution?

Reply doesn't load the rfc822 message into the composer...

the composer is not able to handle all possible MIME structures, that's
why I said it was impossible.

for example, there is no way to represent the following in the composer:

multipart/mixed
  message/rfc822
    multipart/mixed
      text/plain
      image/gif
  text/plain
  multipart/alternative
    text/plain
    text/html
  image/jpeg

simply because the composer cannot create such structures...

if I misunderstood and he just wanted the rfc822 message to be replied
to, then yea - it could work.

Why impossible? We have a 'reply to message' button already. It's just
the same thing. :)

Anyway, we don't have the feature, and no plans for it, afaik.

this is actually extremely difficult/impossible to do - the composer has
to assume that it generated the MIME message to start with, since there
may be MIME structures that it just simply cannot handle.

[Cc'ing to Evolution list.]

What I am referring to is not having to perform an import through the
UI. Rather browsing through nautilus, or typing on the command-line, or
in a shell script; having Evolution open a file as a
mail/vcard/calendar. I am first attempting to tackle the mail type file.

it would go like this.

In pine export a message to a file, say rfc822.eml.
exit pine
type
evolution-1.4 file:///./rfc822.eml
evolution open as if the user had type "evolution-1.4
mailto:user dom tld" but the message window is populated with the
To:,From:,Subject:, and body from the file.

Ah, thanks for the explanation, now I see.

AFAIK this is not possible. There are some options to at least set To:,
Subject: and Attachments when launching Evolution. I don't know of
others though, especially the body.

Maybe someone else...
