Re: [Evolution] Contacts runs like treacle

Hm, that's really strange. The minicard view does have a lot of
performance issues but I worked to eliminate a few of them (the fact
that it generates a full relayout whenever you insert a card into the
model was the biggest one) for 1.4. It's still a lot slower than the
e-table view, but the difference isn't that noticeable until you start
loading huge numbers of contacts (like over 10k). At least, not for
me. Which version of 1.4 are you running?

I've fixed it! (sort of). I've changed the view to phone list (from
address card), and it scrolls like it should, I can select stuff
without it bogging. The initial load time is non-existant. Ahhh
bliss again.

Carry on. Hope this helps those having the same problem as me.

I've just managed to convert my contacts over from kaddressbook.
However, I am shocked at how resource hungry, and slooooow the
contacts part of evolution is. Is this normal behaviour. In total,
I have about 160 vCard entries in the contacts section. And
everything I do from scrolling through the contacts, to selecting a
particular letter, makes evolution drag. Basically all my memory
(256MB) is all used up, and it's swapping like mad. My mouse cursor
jumps about, its just horrible.

Please tell me this is not normal, and that there's a fix.
