You could supply more information about your print system. :)

The reason I say that is that I had a similar problem a while ago.
Turned out that the problem was nothing to do with Evolution. In my case
the problem was the print driver. When I printed plain text, no problem;
when I printed Postscript (which most apps translate to via CUPS), the
driver caused the printer to stop with the error light flashing. This
was an HP952c printer with the driver from HP. Since there were a few
other drivers, I tried them until I found one that works (mostly; I'm
still not completely happy, but it works for Evolution).

Most likely the problem is in your print system; try printing from gv
and see what happens.
