Re: [Evolution] Evo/Connector bug?

Hi Jason,

If you're able to reproduce this one consistently, please do open a bug
report and capture the steps to reproduce it. Mine doesn't crash as
severely as yours - I'm able to exit gracefully from my Evolution
session and go through the bug-buddy motions - but it can take a while
before things settle down. I'm in RH7.3, running from Ximian Gnome.
Sometimes the crash happens while entering e-mail addresses in the To or
Cc fields, other times it happens a while after when I'm in the middle
of typing the message; I've gotten in the habit of saving a draft if
it's an important message.

...I've never had the problem when opening and editing one of the draft
messages though. It's only been when editing the fresh Reply or
Forward.

So yes, I've been encountering this problem consistently over the
sub-releases; haven't been able to reproduce it consistently though. My
suspicions are that it's a Connector-specific bug because I have never
had the problem on my home (no Connector) machine.

I always use bug-buddy when it comes up (again) after applying an
Evolution or Connector patch via red-carpet, just in case it might be
"the one" that identifies the source of the problem. :-) Sounds like
your hard-crashes may not allow bug-buddy to do it's job though. :-(

Andrew.

Just curious if anyone else has run across this or knows how I can
capture sufficient debug info to send along to Ximian ...

I'm running Ximian Connector 1.2.1 and Evolution 1.2.1 ... (I just did
an update on this yesterday) Redhat 8.0 machine. Connecting to a
Microsoft Exchange 2000 server.

I have the Global address list set up and I've added it to the
autocompletion folders list. I have 3 autocompletion folders added.
The local contacts folder, the contacts folder for my account on
exchange, and the GAL.

If I create a new message and put a user in the To: field, let's say his
name is Chris Jones, and then try to add another user with the first
name of Chris to the Cc: field, the "evolution-exchange-storage" process
crashes. In fact, it crashes bad enough that I cannot click on anything
in KDE. I have to Ctrl-Alt-F1 to a console prompt, login, and killev to
get KDE to respond again..

So, does anyone know how I can capture any information about this so I
can open a bug report? It's pretty much a reproducible crash...

Thanks,
