Can I use evolution as a replacement for "/bin/mail -s "<some subject>"
$emailaddress < $filename"
No.
If I remember correctly -- there was a discussion about that some weeks
ago. You can start Evo with parameters for the mail, but you can't
automatically send it.
If you just want to store all script generated outgoing mail, Bcc: to
yourself and use a filter for that.
