It works fine for me (using Evolution 1.4.4, but it's worked ever since
1.4.0 and earlier).  I have not checked "Override server-supplied folder
namespace" although I have checked "Show only subscribed folders."  I
am, obviously, subscribed to the shared folders.  

On the server I am using "altnamespace: yes" although I don't suppose
that will make any difference.  I'm not sure what the problem is, but I
can at least tell you that it can be made to work. :)
