I am connecting to a Exchange server via IMAP with Evo 1.4.4. I
frequently notice that Evo will indicate that there are new messages in
my INBOX - both in the folder pane and in the INBOX folder title bar -
but not update the actual subject listing in the subject pane. In other
words, I might be told that there are 10 new messages, but I cant see
any of them in the message pane. I have tried clicking send/receive,
ctrl-e, move back and forth between the INBOX and other folders -
everything I can think of. The only thing that seems to work is just
wait until Evo decides to update the message list, which can take
several minutes. Annoying to say the least, completely unacceptable to
say the most.
this is a known exchange server bug
Has anybody else seen this?
yes
Is there a workaround?
none that we know of. we tried working around it in the code by
re-SELECTing the folder as a suggestion by someone in bugzilla, but that
didn't fix it apparently.
what happens is that Exchange tells us about the new messages but
apparently it gets itself out of sync and when we request the message
headers so that we may display info in the message-list, it tells us the
messages don't exist.
I find it frustrating that IMAP continues to seem so unreliable in Evo.
well, in this particular case it is an Exchange bug.
Although I really like it in all other respects, I think I might be
forced to go back to Mozilla mail...
My guess is you'd have the same problem with mozmail :-)
