I am running
SuSE 8.2
Kernel 2.4.20-4GB
Evolution 1.4.3
KPilot 4.3.9 (BRANCH)
pilot-link 0.11.7
KDE 3.1.1
Qt 3.1.1
gnomepilot (not sure what version)
I just installed SuSE 8.2 on my machine, and I was told that I could
sync my palm device (Handspring Treo 180/USB Cradle) with evolution.
When I tried this, nothing happened (other than an error message on my
Treo saying 'could not sync with computer, check connection and try
again').
I am (most of the times) successfully syncing my Treo with Evolution
(using gnome-pilot): these are the RPM packages I have installed that
have "pilot" in their name:
rpm -qa | grep -i pilot
perl-PDA-Pilot-0.11.7-24
evolution-pilot-1.4.0-0.ximian.7.6
gnome-pilot-applet-2.0.9-0.ximian.7.3
pilot-link-0.11.7-24
gnome-pilot-conduits-2.0.9-0.ximian.7.1
gnome-pilot-2.0.9-0.ximian.7.3
(you can use this command line to find out about the versions of the
packages installed on your workstation).
[As for the "most of the times" part: synching not successfully means
that synching is done successfully ( :-) ), but my workstation freezes
just when the Treo sings goodbye to the workstation. My current wild
guess is that this only happens if synching ToDos is enabled; I have
"successfully" proved other wild guesses to be wrong during the last
weeks, e.g. by freezing a 2.4.21 kernel etc..]
When I open KPilot I get the message ...
Pilot device /dev/pilot doesn't exist. Assuming the device uses DevFS
Trying to open device ...
Could not open device: /dev/piot (will retry)
Well, does /dev/pilot exist? On my machine, I have
ls -l /dev/pilot
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 2003-06-11 16:29 /dev/pilot -> /dev/ttyUSB1
