I'm switching systems, and currently running evolution 1.2.4 on Solaris
2.8. My mail is in local stores in evolution's own format.
I'm migrating to an IMAP server. With a tree view of folders on the
left pane, I see I can drag the folders around. If I drag my local
folders into the IMAP folder, will this work? "Work" has two parts:
1) create a new folder
2) copy the email into it.

As you are using local folders currently, I assume you did not change
the dafult format and thus use mbox files.
If your IMAP server uses mbox files too, you even can copy the local
mbox files directly to the IMAP server directory and rename the 'mbox'
files. This may be faster than creating new IMAP folders and copying the
mails using the IMAP protocol.
I am using only IMAP accounts (apart from testing), and I never came
across any issue with corrupted mails when copying/moving mails. IMHO
the code is very stable WRT data integrity.
