I'm sorry for this mail, I read previous threads about that problem, I
did what Guenther suggested, but on my system (Mandrake 9.1) I still
can't get Galeon to be the default handler for URLs... (mozilla keeps
coming up, although in both gnomecc and in ~/.gnome/Gnome my settings
are set to use Galeon...)
Don't be sorry, as you checked the archives. Very nice, indeed. And
thanks for increasing my karma by noting me. :-)
I too use Mandrake 9.1 and it works for me. Do you have checked the
settings for typos? What does 'which galeon' return?
So you've edited the file ~/home/yournamegoeshere/.gnome/Gnome and set
the:
Typo, eh? ;-) That sure has to be /home/... w/o the ~.
default-show=galeon "%s"
Be sure to set http-show and https-show too, if in that file. Or just
delete those lines.
...and in gconf-editor, you've replaced all the browsers with
"galeon"...
AFAIK Evo 1.2.x don't respect GConf settings, does it?
...and it still ain't working (even after a reboot?)
Well, what you can do is to rename the /usr/bin/mozilla to
/usr/bin/mozilla.original and create a link:
ln -s /usr/bin/galeon /usr/bin/mozilla
...that is the FAILSAFE way of getting Galeon to work, NO MATTER
WHAT...now, as long as you don't need to use Mozilla...you're all
set...unless you want to specifically call up Moz with
/usr/bin/mozilla.orginal ....ay?
Uh, that _has_ to work. Although it is very rude...
If you have a ~/.gnome/gnome-moz-remote file, check it, rename it or
plain delete it. You can change settings there too, although I never saw
that file on a Mandrake system.
HTH
btw: Mandrake released a security update to Evolution 1.2.4. You can
easily get it with 'MandrakeUpdate' from your preferred mirror.
