Re: [Evolution] Upgrading to Mandrake 9.1

Please, do not hi-jack a thread by replying to a message out of context.

In a few weeks, I plan to backup everything important on this machine
and wipe it clean to install Mandrake 9.1.

I am currently running Evolution 1.2.4. Is there anything special I need
to backup or copy in order to keep all my emails and settings when I
decide to install Evolution on the new distro?

I just upgraded from Mandrake 9.0 to 9.1 without problems. All I did
(for Evo) was saving my entire ~/evolution/ directory. A compressed
tarball comes in handy.

There may be .gnome/[eE]volution* files with (just a little)
configuration settings and the GConf files hold some too. I did it
without them and just had to reconfigure 3 settings for spelling and
gtkhtml (Editor).

Reusing your entire home directory should save everything, but you
probably will end up with obsolete (but harmless) settings for other
apps.

You did not tell anything about your current distro and Gnome version,
though.

I don't know (but I highly doubt) if there may be any problems with
downgrading, as Mandrake comes with 1.2.3 and no updated 1.2.x versions
are planned by ximian. Evo 1.4 will be next.
